What is sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin is a type of skin that reacts more easily than most. Sometimes it shows redness, sometimes itching, maybe a bit of burning or stinging. Often, this happens after using a new product—or just after being outside in the sun, wind, or cold. Pollution, changes in weather, and even stress can make things flare up too (which, if you’ve experienced it, you know how frustrating it can be).

Triggers aren’t the same for everyone. One person might react to fragrance, another to alcohol-based toners, or something else entirely. So, it’s a bit of trial and error. Paying attention to how your skin behaves, introducing new products slowly, and noticing patterns usually helps a lot. Gentle cleansers, hypoallergenic creams and serums, and regular moisturization often keep the skin calmer.

While sensitive skin isn’t typically a medical concern, it does need a little more care. Watching for triggers and using soothing products can reduce flare-ups and help your skin feel and look healthier over time. Think of it as learning what your skin “likes” and what it doesn’t—it takes a bit of observation, but it usually pays off.
